Wonton Potstickers

INGREDIENTS

For Meat Filling

  • 1 lb of ground chicken

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion

  • 1/4 cup minced cilantro

  • 1/2 cup of minced cabbage

  • 5 gloves minced garlic

  • 1 tbsp minced ginger

  • 1 minced shallot

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp white pepper

  • 1 tbsp sesame oilβ €

  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine (cooking wine)

For Dipping Sauce

  • Chinese rice vinegar or white vinegar

  • Chili Oil

  • Chopped green onion

For Cooking β €

  • Wonton wrappers

  • Cooking Oil

  • Water

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Make the meat filling. Add the ground chicken and all the meat filling ingredients together in a big bowl. Mix everything well. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, make the dipping sauce for the potstickers in a small bowl. Set the sauce aside.

  • Take a wonton wrapper and add a small scoop of meat filling onto the center of the wonton wrapper, and lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper. Fold up and pinch together to create the pleats. Repeat the process with the rest of the wonton wrappers.

  • In a large pan, turn the stove to medium-high heat.

  • Then add 3 to 4 tbsp cooking oil. Spread the cooking oil to cover the entire pan and add 6 to 8 wontons. Make sure all the wontons are not touching each other.

  • Sear the wontons until the bottom of each wonton is turning crispy and golden brown. Then turn the temperature of the pan to low heat.

  • Add 3 to 4 tbsp of water into the pan. Close the pan with a lid and let it steam for 5 to 8 minutes. Repeat the process with the rest of the wontons.
